Rotary screen thickeners

The screen is formed by a wire of trapezoidal cross section in form of a drum, with a gap between individual turns. The gap size determines the size of particles caught by the screen. Water with sludge flows onto the screen, or is pumped in the upper part of the drum. Sludge remains on the outer side of the drum, from where it is removed by a scraper directly into a container, and water flows out through the lower part of the rotary screen.  The device features low noise, self-cleaning ability, and maintenance-free operation.
Compared to decanter centrifuges, the rotary screen thickeners need a big amount of rinsing water, which returns a significant amount of sludge back in the screen drum.
